Walgreens must compete with many other community pharmacies like CVS, Kroger, and Walmart. There has been a growing threat from new entrants like Amazon that has been appealing to customers by getting their medications delivered right to their door. For Walgreens to remain successful, they must be competitive amongst their competition in this growing market. It is hard to compete with a store that is mainly online like Amazon because it offers many other services that are outside the realm of pharmacy. With the other community pharmacies, it can be easier to compete by listening to what the customers want by getting feedback from them after interactions or how they think the store can improve. By Walgreens upgrading their operations they have become more appealing to patients. They now offer prescription delivery to patients’ doors with the use of DoorDash and Uber that can happen the same day the prescription is filled. Walgreens has also improved their website and app to where patients can set up appointments before coming into the store, refill prescriptions, and check for any problems with their prescriptions without having to call the store. Including new technological advances has helped patients get answers quicker without the hassle of waiting to speak to someone. To stay competitive in today’s market, companies have to be willing to change because the world is always evolving.
